Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential tool in industry and commercial businesses since 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech machinery. Forklift tires have also evolved into specialized tires, with various types designed to meet particular functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
Rubber or solid polyurethane are the types of materials used to construct cushion tires. They are best for indoor applications on surfaces that are smooth. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are commonly used within warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They are available in two types: bias or radial. Depending upon the use, they are offered with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires maintain constant pressures and are less susceptible to punctures. Pneumatic tires are commonly utilized outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires which can either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These types of tires are suitable for loading and moving heavy items into processing equipment or onto trucks. Big flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly used at lumberyards, construction locations and automobile recyclers.
