Lift Truck Components in More Detail
A forklift is constructed from thousands of parts. The key parts which make up a forklift truck are the truck frame, the engine parts, the overhead guard, the wheels and the tilt cylinders. Also, a lift truck consists of different types of attachments. All the parts which make up a forklift are all important since they work together to make the operation of the machinery possible. The next paragraphs describe a few of the lift truck parts in detail.
The Overhead Guard - this guard forms the lift truck's metal roof. It sits over the cab area and protects the machine operator while he or she is sitting and driving. The overhead guard makes sure that nothing falling from above onto the truck will damage the controls inside the cab or harm the operator. The overhead guard is essential to the frame assembly on various units.
The Mast - the mast is a vertical assembly made of interlocking rails and mounted either to the forklift frame or the front axle. The mast provides lateral stability and allows the forks to move up and down. The interlocking rails could either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are two ways the mast can be operated: chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor or hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders.
Lift Truck Carriage - the forks and other kinds of attachments are mounted to the carriage. The carriage is connected to the mast directly to the hydraulic cylinder or it is attached by chains. To enable the forks to be raised and lowered, the carriage could have either rollers or bushings to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.
Load Back Rest - a back rest is a metal rack that prevents a load from falling backwards when the carriage is raised to its full height. The back rest is either welded or bolted on to the carriage.
Lift Truck Attachments - a variety of attachments can be fixed to the front of the lift truck. The most common kind of attachment is forks. What's more, there are rotators, rollers, L-shaped members, pole handlers, roll clamps and and all that. These various types of attachments are very handy for transporting different kinds of loads.
