Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Within most warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
