The following add-ons are really useful for narrow aisle lift trucks:
Side shift: The side shift option allows the movement of the load laterally without having to move the truck. This enables loads to be precisely placed.
Tilt mast: The optional tilt mast enables the forks to shift both forwards and backwards. This is recommended in cases where loads aren't entirely level. In order to gain more stability when transporting a loaded truck, the mast could be tilted backwards.
Extendable forks: The option of extendable forks helps the "reach" of the forklift to extend for stacking pallets one in front of the other, known as "double-deep" loading.
Operator platforms: Some NA lift trucks have operator platforms which can raise and lower the operator while simultaneously lowering and raising the forklifts forks. This provides utmost visibility and control when handling loads at heights of 6 to 9 meters.
Forklift on a Ramp
Forklift drivers must be well taught on the equipment. They should be tested and qualified or certified. It is very important for anyone using a lift truck to be educated about safety rules and issues. Operators should know how to make adjustments on uneven surfaces or in situations where the weight of the load changes the center of gravity. Safety guidelines include the safe use of a forklift on a ramp, that is a frequent happening as the operator will normally have to drive up and down ramps in order to unload and load containers.
Suggestions for Using a Forklift on a Ramp
1 Drive at slow speeds while approaching a ramp and when driving down and up the ramp. The possibility of accidents is higher while driving at high speeds as this could upset the equipment's center of gravity.
2 Drive the lift truck in reverse while moving up an incline on a ramp when not carrying a load.
3 Drive forward when moving down an incline on the ramp with no load.
4 While moving down or up a ramp while carrying a load, tilt the forks back slightly to shift the load's center nearer the front of the equipment.
5 In order to make the load more steady, drive forward up a ramp when carrying a load.
