The forklift is an important piece of machine in most businesses that operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial facilities. This wonder machine, the forklift is made of numerous components, such as the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have different kinds of attachments too. The following are several of the most important parts of a forklift.
Forklift Engine - the forklift truck is designed with a power source at the back of the equipment. Various types of forklift truck have various kinds of engine which need varying power sources. For instance, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most important of all the lift truck components is the frame of the truck. This forms the machine's core. All other lift truck parts are attached to the base, including the counterweight, overhead guard, axles, mast and wheels. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can be part of the frame assembly also.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - the counterweight is what allows the equipment to be balanced while carrying heavy cargo. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift gives balance and could work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Forklifts would sometimes have closed cabs while others will be open to the air. There are really many parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential parts like the operator controls, steering wheel, seats, pedals, switches and levers. The dashboard has operator readouts.
