Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
The walkie type as the name implies, is made to enable the operator to walk along the machinery as they pick up and transport loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in warehouses and manufacturing applications. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to lift and move unstable or tall loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the perfect answer if you are looking for a cheap method for transporting cargo from one place to another. If though, you are required to move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the best choice.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machinery designed specially for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles which can work in aisles of less than six feet. They are really handy pieces of machine during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
