Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. For example, employees could carry out exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift generally only holds a single worker. These buckets are more suitable to specific tasks like electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces underneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these units should be positioned directly below the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer larger platforms that enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, because they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being used for window installation or cladding, as they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Cherry pickers, boom trucks and bucket trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle utilized specifically for vertical work. Typically, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand in addition to a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are various kinds of cranes which could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machinery excel at various tasks and are suitable for specific applications and finishing particular tasks.
