Various Types of Aerial Lift
A specialized kind of heavy machine which enables an individual to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are normally used to perform repairs on places which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to most tools, there are various models of aerial lifts which could be utilized to complete various jobs. For the utmost safety, each and every kind of different type of equipment requires proper training and specific qualifications before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic kind of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is raised up using pneumatic power and are mainly used for indoor applications. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts can be driven similar to large carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they can not be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could use these devices, workers should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complicated kind of aerial lift machine. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket that allows the operator to lower and raise the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it can move from side to side also. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Traditionally, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, hence, operators must be certified separately for these kinds of lifts.
